Bowling Teams Compete at Norse and Eagle Classics

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More College men's and women's bowling teams competed at two tournaments over the weekend (February 4 and 5, 2017).

On Saturday, both teams competed at the Norse Classic in Erlanger, Kentucky.  The men's teams placed 11th and the women's team finished 13th.

In regulation play, the men's team was led by first-year Jake Farley (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands), who had an 867 series with a 173 average.  First-year Austin Crone (Florence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had an 840 series with a 168 series, senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) bowled an 803 series with a 161 average, first-year Jonathan Frommeyer (Hebron, Ky./Conner) had a 790 series with a 158 average and first-year Jacob Lawson (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had a 773 series with a 155 average.  In baker games, the Saints had a 162 average in the three four-game blocks.

Thomas More's women's teams was led by first-year Erica Travis (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton), who had an 855 series with a 171 average.  First-year Mandi Chafins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) had a 792 series with a 158 average, sophomore Katie Laine (Delhi, Ohio/Oak Hills) had a 775 series with a 155 average and sophomore Kendra Berry (Ashland, Ky./Boyd County) had a 586 series with a 117 average.  In baker games, Thomas More had a 114 average in the three four-game blocks.

The Saints travels to Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday to compete at the Eagle Classic where the women's team finished 10th and the men's teams placed 16th.

Chafin paced the women's team with a 780 series and a 156 average.  Laine bowled a 693 series with a 139 average, Travis had a 670 series with a 134 average and Berry bowled a 538 with a 108 average.  Thomas More had a 97 average in the three four-game baker game blocks.

The men's team was led by Farley, who had an 867 series with a 173 average.  Crone had an 840 series with a 168 series, Kelley bowled an 803 series with a 161 average, Frommeyer had a 790 series with a 158 average and Lawson had a 773 series with a 155 average.  In baker games, the Saints had a 162 average in the three four-game blocks.

Select members of the men's and women's bowling teams will compete March 11-13 at the USBC Sections in Smyrna, Tennessee.
