Five Saints Earn Weekly Honors From the PAC

(GREENVILLE, Pa.) – Thomas More College had five student-athletes earn weekly honors from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) office on Monday.

The Saints swept the PAC softball weekly honors as junior center fielder Laura Finke (Fort Wright, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) was named PAC Hitter of the Week, sophomore pitcher Alix DeDreu (Rising Sun, Ind./Rising Sun) was named PAC Pitcher of the Week and first-year first baseman Andrea Gahan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was named PAC Rookie of the Week.  Finke hit .667 (8-of-12) while totaling two doubles, two runs batted-in and nine runs scored last week for 4-0 Thomas More.  She also finished the week six-for-six in stolen base attempts while posting a .833 slugging percentage and a .714 on-base percentage.  DeDreu went 2-0 (two starts) with a 1.16 ERA last week for the Saints in the circle.  She gave up four runs (two earned) on 12 hits in 12.0 innings and combined to strike out six in her two starts. DeDreu pushed her record to 10-2 this season after logging her ninth complete game effort in Saturday's 5-1 game one win at Thiel College.  Gahan hit .600 (six-for-10) with a home run, a triple, a double, seven RBI and four runs scored last week for Thomas More.  She also posted a 1.200 slugging percentage.

Junior second baseman Ben Laumann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was named the PAC Baseball Hitter of the Week.  He helped lead the Saints to a 4-1 record last week, which included a 2-1 series win against No. 17 Washington & Jefferson College.  Laumann hit .389 (seven-of-18) with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI and seven runs scored.  He also finished the week with a .522 on-base percentage, an .833 slugging percentage and was four-for-four in stolen base attempts.

Senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) was named the PAC Men's Golf Co-Player of the Week.  He helped lead the Saints to the team title at the five-team Earlham College Spring Invitational last weekend.  Kelley also earned medalist honors at the event with a four-over 146 (74-72) in his final regular season tournament.

The softball and baseball teams are in action on Tuesday (April 18) as the softball team hosts Chatham University at 3:30 p.m. and the baseball team is in Grove City, Pennsylvania to play Grove City College at 2 p.m.  Thomas More's men's golf team is idle until April 28 and 29 when it competes at the PAC Championship in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania.
