(LANCASTER, Ohio) – The Thomas More College men's and women's bowling team competed on Saturday (January 20, 2018) at the Muskie Mash hosted by Muskingum University in Lancaster, Ohio.
The women's team finished 10th at the tournament. The Saints had 4,484 points in the tournament as they had 3,150 during regulation games and 1,334 in Baker games.
In regulation play, Thomas More was led by sophomore Erica Travis (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) as she had an 815 series with a 163 average. Sophomore Mandi Chafins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) had an 811 series with a 162 average, first-year Alicia Halstead (Delaware, Ohio/Rutherford B. Hayes) had a 787 series with a 157 average and junior Katie Laine (Delhi, Ohio/Oak Hills) had a 737 series with a 147 average. In Baker games, the Saints had a 111 average in three four game blocks.
The men's team placed 13the at the tournament as it had 5,947 points in the tournament with 3,972 during regulation games and 1,975 in Baker games.
Sophomore Austin Crone (Florence, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the Saints as he had an 886 series with a 177 average. Sophomore Jake Farley (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) finished with an 888 series with a 177 average, while sophomore Jacob Lawson (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) bowled a 739 series with a 185 average. Sophomore Jonathan Frommeyer (Hebron, Ky./Conner) had a 732 series with a 146 average, first-year Spencer Becknell (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) finished with a 568 series and a 142 average and Griffin Cahill had a 162 series with an 81 average. In Baker games, Thomas More had a 164 average in three four game blocks.
The women's team returns to action on February 2 when it hosts Saint Vincent College in a dual match at Super Bowl in Erlanger, Kentucky. Both teams will be in action on February 3 when they compete in the Norse Classic at Super Bowl.
