(GREENVILLE, Pa.) – Thomas More College senior guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) and junior guard Damion King (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark) earned weekly honors from the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) office on Monday.
Owings was named the PAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She helped lead the fifth-ranked Saints to a 2-0 last week with a pair of PAC road wins over Thiel College and Chatham University. Owings finished the week averaging 19.0 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game and shot 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from the floor while knocking down 9-of-18 (50.0%) of her three-point attempts. In Saturday's 85-49 win at Chatham, she posted a season-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting, going 6-of-10 from three-point range, and five steals.
King was named the PAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second-straight week. He averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists last week to help the league-leading Saints claim PAC road wins at Thiel and Chatham. Last Wednesday at Thiel, King finished with a game-high 23 points and six rebounds in a 75-61 victory. For the week he shot at a 59.1 percent clip (13-of-22) from the floor, 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from three-point range and knocked down 10-of-12 (83.3%) of his free throw attempts.
Both basketball team return home on Wednesday (January 31) and host Bethany College at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The women's game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
