(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – Thomas More College junior guard Damion King (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark) has been named first team All-Great Lakes District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The teams are selected by member coaches of the NABC within the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region.
King, who was the 2018 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year and a two-time All-PAC First Team selection, totaled a league-best 126 assists this season. He was fourth among PAC players in minutes per game (32.3), seventh in scoring average (15.2) and 13th in rebounding average (6.0). His .821 free throw percentage (92-of-112) and .38.8 three-point field goal percentage (38-of-98) ranked fourth and seventh, respectively, in the PAC this season, while his .460 field goal percentage (156-of-339) ranked 11th.
King scored his 1,000th career point February 10 in a 65-50 victory over league rival Waynesburg University.
In nine career PAC Championship Tournament games (8-1), King averaged 16.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 47.9 percent (58-of-21) from the floor. He totaled 23 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in last Saturday's 78-73 title game win over Bethany College.
King and the Saints finished the season 23-6, while claiming the PAC regular season and championship tournament titles and earning a trip to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
