Saints Finish 28th at NCAA Division III Championship

(HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla.) – The Thomas More College men's golf team shot a second round 319 today (Wednesday, May 17, 2017) on the Los Colinas Course at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida to move up seven spots and finish 28th at the NCAA Division III Championship with a 645 (326-319).

First-year Kyle Alexander (Taylorsville, Ky./Spencer County) shot a second round 75 and finished tied for 111th with a 159 (84-75).  Junior Carter Hibbard (Florence, Ky./Boone County) shot a second round 84 and finished tied for 139th with a 162 (78-84) and senior Darron Hampton (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) carded a second round 81 for a 163 (82-81) and finish tied for 146th.  Senior Jimmy Kelley (California, Ky./Bishop Brossart) fired a second round 79 and finished tied for 159th with a 165 (86-79) and sophomore Matt Striegel (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) had a second round 85 and finished tied for 174th with a 167 (82-85).

Top-ranked Huntingdon College leads the championship with a 589 (293-291) and Huntingdon's Addison Lambeth is leading the individual standings with a 141 (69-72).

Thomas More did not make the 18-team cut to the final round of the championship, but had a very successful season.  The Saints made their second-ever NCAA Championship appearance after winning their second Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship.
