Thomas More Wins PAC Title With 1-0 Shutout of Geneva

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The top-seeded Thomas More College men's soccer team won its seventh Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament title today (Saturday, November 4, 2017) as it defeated second-seeded Geneva College, 1-0, in the championship match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 14-4-2 and receives the PAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.  The tournament field and first/second round locations will be announced on Monday on www.ncaa.com. With the loss, the Golden Tornadoes fall to 14-4-2.

The Saints scored the lone goal of the match at the 78:27 mark when first-year forward Ibra Goumballe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) scored off a ball played by junior forward Sam Lewis (Stawell, England/Crispin School).

Junior goalkeeper Jeff Paulin (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) earned the shutout win in goal as he played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves.

Geneva out-shot Thomas More 13-12, including 5-4 as the Saints were the team to find the back of the net.

The tournament championship was Thomas More's second of the weekend as the women's soccer claimed a title yesterday.  The title was also the College's 50th since joining the PAC during the 2005-2006 academic year.
