(GREENVILLE, Pa.) - Thomas More College men's soccer team had seven Saints named All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) today, Thursday November, 09, 2017. First-year center Bryce Day (Edgewood, Ky. / Covington Catholic) and senior defender Colin Dean (Fort Thomas, Ky. / Highlands) were named to the All-PAC First Team as well as sophomore center Griffin Garrison (Cincinnati, Ohio / McNicholas), junior defender Jacob Hensley (Cold Springs, Ky. / Newport Central Catholic), junior GK Jeff Paulin (Alexandria Ky. / Bishop Brossart), and sophomore forward Ethan Smith (Columbus, Ind. / Columbus North) received All-PAC Second Team. Junior defender Pat Louis (Fort Thomas, Ky. / Newport Central Catholic) was named All-PAC Honorable Mention.
Head Coach Eric Busener was named the PAC Coach of the Year as he led the Saints to a 7-0-1 PAC regular season record and helped secure the program's sixth number one seed in the league's championship tournament since joining the league in 2005. The top-seeded Saints dealt second-seeded Geneva a 1-0 loss in the PAC title match last Saturday at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. The conference title was Thomas More's seventh (2009-14, 2017). The Saints posted five shut-out victories under the lead of Busener this season.
All-PAC First Team honoree, Day, has played in 18 matches and has started every one of them. He has recorded eight points on 17 shots and put up two assists on the season. Dean has started and played in 19 matches for the Saints this year. He has one goal on the season as a defender. He also has helped lead the defense to record five shut-out matches.
All-PAC Second Team honoree, Garrison, has played in 19 matches, starting 18 of them. He has 10 points on the season with 25 shots. Hensley, who was also named to the PAC-Sportsmanship Team, has recorded two points this season as a defender. He has also helped the Saints' defense post five shut-out victories. Paulin has played in 16 matches, starting 15 of them. He has recorded 69 saves to go with his 11-2-1 record as a goal keeper. He has only allowed 14 goals against him this season, recording a .831 save percentage. Smith has played in 15 matches, starting 11 of them. He has totaled 16 points this season along with four assists and 40 shots.
PAC Honorable Mention, Louis, has played in 17 matches this season, starting 16 of them. He has recorded 14 shots as a defender while also helping his defense record five shut-out victories this season.
Thomas More finished the 2017 season in first place in the PAC, advancing to the first round of the NCAA Tournament to take on Calvin on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 8:00PM.
