(AUSTIN, Texas) –Thomas More College junior outfielder Laura Finke (Fort Wright, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) has been named to the Academic All-District II Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of the America (CoSIDA).
Finke carries a 3.95 grade point average in biology. She has started all 40 games for the Saints. Finke has a .420 batting average as she is 60-of-143 with three triples, six doubles, 41 runs scored and 14 runs batted-in. She is 28-for-s32 in stolen base attempts and has a .1.000 fielding percentage with 31 putouts.
By virtue of making the Academic All-District II team, Finke advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot. This is the second-straight season that she has been named Academic All-District II and is the only Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) softball student-athlete to earn Academic All-District honors this season.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA.
The Academic All-District teams are voted on by Sports Information Directors within a district and the members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America committee voting on the national ballot. District II includes every NCAA Division III institution in Kentucky, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
