(TUCSON, Ariz.) – The Thomas More College women's softball team opened its season today in the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic. The Saints fell in both games today, 4-3 against Pacific (Ore.) and 11-5 against Manhattanville. The Saints are now 0-2 as they head into day two of the Classic.
In the first game, the Saints had a 2-1 lead going into the fourth inning. The Boxers went on rally in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs, taking a 4-2 lead. The Saints had one last effort to come back, scoring one run in the fifth inning.
In the second game of the day, the Saints fell to the Valiants 11-5. Hannah Sprague and Knotts were on the mound against Manhattanville. The Saint took the lead early, scoring three runs in the first inning, but the Valiants countered with four runs in the second.
