Owings and Kiernan Named All-Great Lakes Region

(MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.) – Thomas More College junior guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) and junior forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) earned All-Great Lakes Region honors from D3hoops.com.  Owings was a first team selection and Kiernan was a third team selection by the internet website. 

Owings, voted the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year on February 24, finished fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game. She also ranked third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0), fourth in steals per game (2.2) and fifth in assists per game (3.4) and three-point field goals made (57). A two-time All-PAC First Team selection, Owings was a D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Second Team pick in 2016.  

Kiernan finished 10th in the league in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per game. She also led the PAC in blocks per game (2.5), tied for second in field goal percentage (.500), was seventh in rebounds per game (7.7) and tied for seventh in free throw percentage (.818). Kiernan, a two-time All-PAC First Team selection, was a D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Third Team pick in 2016.

Thomas More finished the 2016-17 with a 28-1 record and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship second round after winning the PAC regular season and tournament titles.
