Thomas More Names Drew Cooper Head Women's Golf Coach
(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Thomas More College Director of Athletics Terry Connor announced today (Wednesday, June 19, 2013) that Drew Cooper has been named the new women's golf coach at Thomas More.
Cooper, who will also serve as the head men's basketball coach, comes to Thomas More from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky where he served as an assistant basketball coach for the past six seasons. He has experience recruiting female student-athletes as he served as an assistant women's tennis coach at Northern Kentucky University and Babson (Mass.) College.
Cooper takes over program that competed in four tournaments during the 2012-13 academic year and had a season-best fourth place finish at the Asbury University Fall Invitational.
"All successfully run programs entail successful recruiting philosophies. Given my professional experiences, and the fact that Thomas More is a special place for many reasons, I'm confident we'll retain very high quality young women both academically and athletically to represent the program," said Cooper. "A major goal of mine will be to see that these young women that have committed their academic and athletic careers to this institution will grow as students, players and people."
A Louisville native and graduate of St. Xavier High School, Cooper earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications from Assumption College in 1999. In 2010, he received his master of business administration degree from Bellarmine University. Cooper currently resides in Louisville with his wife Tamara, daughter Delaney, stepson Chandler and twin boys, Grant and Owen.
