Thomas More Finishes 22nd at First NCAA Championship

(HOUSTON, Texas) – The Thomas More College women's golf team shot a third round 374 today (Thursday, May 11, 2017) to finish 22nd with a total of 1,123 (395, 354, 374) at the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.

Sophomore Emily Armbrecht (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross) shot a third round 89 and finished tied for 102nd with a 277 (93-95-89) and sophomore Sara Jackie (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) also finished tied for 102nd after a third round 96 for a 277 (100-81-96).

Sophomore Christie Modafari (Mason, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) shot a third round 94 for a 282 (102-86) to finish tied for 107th at the championship.  Senior Emilie Mattei (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) shot a 95 in her final collegiate round and finished 111th with a 287 (100-92-95).  First-year Sophia Illokken (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) had a 102 in the third round to finish 114th with a 316 (112-102-102).

Thomas More did not make the 16-team cut to the final round of the championship, but had a very successful season.  The Saints made their first-ever NCAA Championship appearance after winning their first-ever Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship by 30 strokes and shot a school-record 336 at the UPike Spring Invitational on April 1.
