(FRANKLIN, Ind.) – The ninth-ranked Thomas More College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season today (Sunday, September 3, 2017) as it fell, 2-0, to Franklin College at Faught Stadium in Franklin, Indiana.
Franklin (1-1) scored goals in the 68th and 82nd minute of the match. Despite the loss, Thomas More (1-1) out-shot Franklin 20-12, including 8-5 on-goal and had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore forward Olivia Nienaber (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) led the Saints' offense with five total shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Aleyna Heyman (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) suffered the loss in goal as she played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves, while allowing two goals.
The Saints return to action on Tuesday (September 5) when they travel up Interstate 71 to play Capital University at 7 p.m. at Purmort Field at Bernlohr Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
