(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Senior forward Abby Stadtmiller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) tallied a goal and an assist today (Saturday, October 7, 2017) to lead the Thomas More College women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Waynesburg University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at BB&T Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 8-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 5-5-1 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.
Thomas More took an early 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Stadtmiller scored from 20-yards out off an assist from first-year forward Ashley Maples (Springboro, Ohio/Archbishop Alter).
Waynesburg tied the match at 1-1 when Melanie Byler scored in the 51st minute. The Saints took the lead for good in the 58th minute when sophomore forward Kristina Felix (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) headed in a corner kick by Stadtmiller to make the score 2-1.
First-year goalkeeper Maddy Kim (California, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) earned the win in goal as she played all 90 minute and recorded two saves.
Thomas More out-shot Waynesburg, 24-4, including 11-3 on-goal and had a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Saints return to action on Thursday (October 12) when they travel to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to play Saint Vincent College at 4 p.m.
