(GREENVILLE, Pa.) – The Thomas More College women's soccer team clinched at least a share of its sixth-straight Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) regular season title today (Saturday, October 28, 2017) as it defeated Thiel College, 2-0, at Alumni Stadium in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
With the win, the Saints improve to 13-4-1 overall and 16-0 in the PAC. Thomas More will be the No. 1 seed in next week's PAC Championship. The Saints will host the No. 4 seed on Tuesday (October 31) in a semifinal match at 2 p.m. at BB&T Field. The PAC office will announce the tournament field later today or tomorrow. With the loss, the Tomcats end the season at 3-15 overall and 0-9 in the PAC.
Thomas More took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when senior forward Abby Stadtmiller (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) scored unassisted. First-year forward Ashley Maples (Springboro, Ohio/Archbishop Alter) added an insurance goal in the 77th minute for the final score of 2-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Kim (California, Ky./Notre Dame Academy) earned the shutout win in goal as she played all 90 minutes and recorded two saves.
The Saints out-shot the Tomcats 27-3, including 11-2 on-goal and had a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
