Eric Busener is in his fifth year of his second stint as an assistant women's soccer coach at Thomas More College. On December 3, 2014, he was named the head men's soccer coach in addition as continuing as the assistant women's coach.
Busener returned to Thomas More in 2012 after spending the previous four seasons assisting John Basalyga, 2010 National Coach of the Year, at Northern Kentucky University. Over the past four seasons, the Norse earned four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances including two regional championships, two final four appearances highlighted by winning the 2010 DII National Championship. Northern Kentucky men’s soccer enjoyed its greatest successes during Busener's stint as assistant coach, compiling a record of 65-16-9 since 2008 and leading the nation in scoring during the 2010 season. While at Northern Kentucky, he coached five All-Americans, a three-time Conference Player of the Year, a two-time National Player of the Year, and the Conference Freshman Player of the Year.
Prior to his career at Northern Kentucky University, Eric spent the prior two seasons at his alma mater, Thomas More College, assisting Jeff Cummings with both the men’s and women’s soccer programs. While at Thomas More he helped lead the Saints to two first place finishes on the women’s side in the Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) and helped the men advance to the PAC tournament final after their best season in 10 years. While at Thomas More, Eric coached one Conference Player of the Year and the nations leading goal scorer.
Eric was a four-year starter as a player at Thomas More, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors after his sophomore campaign and was named Captain and Most Valuable Player for his junior and senior seasons. Prior to his college career, Eric graduated from LaSalle High School, where he earned first-team All-Greater Catholic League and All-Southwest Ohio honors.
Busener also serves as Assistant Director of Coaching at Northern Kentucky Soccer Academy.
