Saints Fall, 5-4, to Defending Champ Westminster

(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) – The Thomas More College women's tennis team fell, 5-4, to the defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champions Westminster College tonight (Thursday, October 5, 2017) indoors at the Boardman Tennis Center in Youngstown, Ohio.  The Saints were a 10 point super tiebreak from defeating the Titans for the first-time in school history.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the PAC.  With the win, the Titans improve to 7-3 overall and 6-0 in the PAC.

Thomas More trailed 2-1 after doubles as the Saints' lone point came at No. 3 where sophomore Lacey Pohlman (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) and first-year Matison Perry (Union, Ky./Ryle) won 8-1.

The Saints split the singles matches as sophomore Brooke Warden (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1, Perry won at No. 5 by the scores of 6-1, 6-2 and junior Sarah Fellinger (North Bend, Ohio/Taylor) won 2-6, 6-0, 10-4 at No. 6.  The match was decided at No. 3 singles where junior Nicole Capodagli (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) won the first set 6-2, but Westminster won the second set 6-2 and the super tiebreaker 10-7 for the Titans fifth point.

Thomas More returns to action tomorrow when it takes on Saint Vincent College at 2 p.m. in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
