Women's Tennis Falls in Hilton Head to Wartburg

(HILTON HEAD, SC.) - The Thomas More College women's tennis team took on their first match in Hilton Head, South Carolina today facing off against Wartburg College. The Saints fell 5-4 in a hard fought match. With the loss, the Saints fall to 10-4 on the season.

In singles competition, Thomas More and Wartburg split the six matches. Brooke Warden defeated her opponent in two sets, 6-3, 6-1. Hannah Lowman won in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-1). Jana Riffe won in two sets 6-2, 6-3. Nicole Capodagli, Lacy Pohlman, and Matison Perry all fell in their singles matched in two sets. Capodagli fell 6-4, 6-1, Pohlman lost 6-0, 6-1, and Perry fell 6-2, 6-1. 

In doubles competition, the Saints were looking to capitalize, but Wartburg edged them out for the win. Duo Warden and Lowman fell 8-6, while duo Capodagli and Sarah Fellinger fell 8-3. Partners Pohlman and Perry were the sole winners for the Saints doubles competition, winning 9-7.

The Saints continue their play in Hilton Head facing off against Sweet Briar at 12:15 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
