(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – Thomas More College senior Christina Cook (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) has been named All-Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2018 outdoor season in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.
To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the Top-5 of an individual event in the region according to the final TFRRS data or be part of a Top-3 relay team.
Cook qualified Top-5 in the 400-meter dash as she was ranked No. 1 in the region and sixth nationally with a time of 55.68-seconds, which she set at the Billy Hayes Invitational hosted by Indiana University on May 4. She was No. 2 in the region in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.00-seconds at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship on April 25.
Cook is a 19-time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion as she won 10 events during her four years at the PAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and nine at the PAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She was also named the 2015, 2016 and 2017 PAC Indoor Track Most Valuable Player and was also the 2017 PAC Indoor Overall Most Valuable Player.
In 2018, Cook was the Indoor PAC champion in the 200 and 400-meter dashes as well as in the distance medley relay and the Outdoor PAC champion in the 200 and 400-meter dashes and the 4x400-meter relay.
Cook will compete in the Division III Championship's 400-meter preliminaries on Friday (May 25) at 4:15 p.m. Central in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
