(LA CROSSE, Wis.) – Senior Christina Cook (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) qualified today (Friday, May 25, 2018) for the finals of the 400-meter dash of the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Cook ran a time of 55.14-second in the first heat of the preliminaries today. She was second in her heat and qualiefied fifth overall for tomorrow's finals. The finals will be run tomorrow at 1:20 p.m. CST/2:20 p.m. EST in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Cook will seek to claim Thomas More's first-ever national championship in track & field.
Tomorrow's race will be Cook's final collegiate event. It caps a stellar career as Cook is a 19-time Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion as she won 10 events during her four years at the PAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and nine at the PAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. shewas also named the 2015, 2016 and 2017 PAC Indoor Track Most Valuable Player and was also the 2017 PAC Indoor Overall Most Valuable Player.
