(TIFFIN, Ohio) – Thomas More College volleyball team took on Heidelberg University at the Heidelberg Invitational today, Friday Sept. 8. The Saints shut Heidelberg out in a three set victory (25-18, 25-16, 25-19) winning 3-0.
With the win, Thomas More moves to 2-3 on the year, while Heidelberg dropped to 2-4.
Madison Krumpelman led the team in kills, recording 9 throughout the match. Jenna Mummert was right behind her with eight kills of her own to add to the team's total 35 kills, compared to Heigelberg's 33. Jenna Fessler had 25 assists on the day to help the Saints march to victory.
The Saints dominated the hit percentage, with a .264 over .065 for Heidelberg. Another factor that went into the Saints' victory was the limited number of errors committed. Thomas More only committed 11 attack errors to Heidelberg's 26. Similar with the blocking errors, Thomas More committed only two, while Heidelberg committed four.
Thomas More is back in action tomorrow, Saturday Sept. 9, against Bluffton and then again against Wittenberg for day two of the Heidelberg Invitational. The match against Bluffton is set to start at 10:00 AM followed by a 12:30 PM start versus Wittenberg. Live stats will be available through a link on the Thomas More website.
