Saints Go 1-1 on Day Two of Heidelberg Invitational

(TIFFIN, Ohio) – Thomas More College volleyball team went 1-1 on day two (Saturday Sept. 9) of the Heidelberg Invitational in Tiffin, Ohio. The Saints defeated Bluffton 3-1 before falling to Wittenberg 3-0.

The Saints took on Bluffton University in the first match, not before finishing in the fourth set, defeating them 3-1, 28-26, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20. Madison Krumpelman recorded 27 digs, while Rachel Bronner was right behing her with 25 and Jenna Fessler added 20 to guide the Saints to a total of 102 dig in the match.  Jenna Mummert had 15 kills in the match with Alli Borders adding another 13 to give Thomas More 52 total kills. Thomas More dominated the hitting percentage, ending the match with a .134 to Bluffton's .088. With the loss, Bluffton moved to 4-3 on the season.

In the second match of the day, the Saints took on Wittneberg University. Thomas More fell in three sets, 11-25, 19-25, 16-25. Bronner put up 24 digs in the match while Fessler had 24 assists. Mummert had 10 kills and one solo block to try and keep the Saints in the match, but the Tigers prevailed in the end. With the win, Wittenberg improved to 5-0.

With the Saints going 1-1 on the day, this moved them to 3-4 on the season. Thomas More will be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Hanover. The match is set to start at 7:00 PM.
