(HANOVER, Ind.) – The Thomas More College volleyball team defeated traditional rival Hanover College, 3-2, tonight (Wednesday, September 13, 2017) in a non-conference match inside Collier Arena in Hanover, Indiana. The Saints won the match by the scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 21-25 and 15-13.
With the win, the Saints improve to 4-4 and with the loss, the Panthers fall to 8-1.
Junior setter Jenna Fessler (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) paced the Saints' offense with 44 set assists. Sophomore outside hitter Madison Krumpelman (Crestview Hills, Ky./Holy Cross) and first-year outside hitter Carlee Lambert (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the offensive attack with 12 kills each. Sophomore middle hitter Jenna Mummert (Batavia, Ohio/Clermont Northeastern) added 11 kills and sophomore outside hitter Alli Borders (Florence, Ky./Boone County) finished with 10 kills.
Senior defensive specialist Rachel Bronner (Reading, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the Saints on the defensive side of the net with 28 dig. Three other Saints finished with double-digit digs as first-year defensive specialist Jessica Ginn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) added 13, while Fessler and Borders each had 10. Mummert led the team in blocks with six total blocks.
Thomas More returns to action Friday (September 15) when it travels to Delaware, Ohio to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational inside Branch Rickey Arena. The Saints will play Adrian College at 5 p.m. and Kenyon College at 7 p.m.
